Ondamar Hotel Apartamentos

Good welcome from the reception staff in the huge reception area. Wasn’t prepared for the deposit, quite large amount. Would have been nice to be shown to your room. The apartment was large and clean although a bit dated. The pool area was very nice and there’s a mini golf area with a bar/ cafe and nice seating too. Good location for the area and plenty of shops and restaurants. We didn’t eat at the hotel (self catering). Negative feedback- holiday was slightly ruined by lots of large groups staying at the hotel, very noisy and especially around the pool at times. Frequently woken up during the early hours by returning guests 🫤 Wondering what it’s like during school holidays? Maybe more family friendly? Would have to reconsider returning due to above mentioned. Also didn’t see many staff around and not sure how they would have dealt with rowdy guests?

Arrived Friday evening for a 7 night break with my husband. Reception big and clean, check in process quick and simple! Allocated room 5, easy to find, exceptionally clean and split between modern and slightly dated mainly the kitchen needs updating) kitchen facilities are VERY basic with very minimal utensils and plates etc The room had a lovely pool view with balcony too, maid service daily and comfortable beds. Has an indoor pool, whirlpool, gym and squash court too. Pool area simple with a medium size pool and toddler pool, lots of comfortable sun-beds amd maintained garden areas. Location was good for both old and new town 10-15 min walk to each or 4 euro in an uber or bolt. As it was out of season the hotel overall was quiet! I'd say more for couples and friends than family's. Mini golf always busy as open to the public also but you can play for 12 euros each. No vending machines etc which I think would do well but there is a Spar shop 3 mins around the corner. I would happily stay here again no issues! I do think it could benefit from a lick of paint and freshen up but otherwise great!

Wot a place this hotel is. Defo not suited for family's. The staff couldn't care less about the people that come and pay hard earned money for a holiday. Last year the staff at the pool bar wer very friendly. Now we have a young girl working who never smiles has a stinking attitude and shud not be serving members of the public. Asked for a knife and fork for my salad I ordered, that she should of brought with my lunch and wen I went to ask she huffed and stormed off had to wait another 5mins for a fork. Place has really went down hill yet we see all these Instagram posts bigging the hotel up. I think they shud stay of social media and start to take more care in the staff. As I can see the numbers of people coming to the hotel have dropped as well and I can only put it down to staff they have employed. Only the mataiance boys in blue tops they shud keep they are friendly people. As for the pool bar u will be lucky to get anything always out of stock and ask can they change the keg they said no. Place has really became a joke of a hotel since new management has taken over. WONT BE STAYING HERE EVER AGAIN

This hotel has an impressive façade, spacious lobby area and is conveniently located - roughly midway between Albufeira old town and "The Strip", close to major supermarkets, taxi rank, sight-seeing hop-on-hop-off point, and tourist train. The staff were, generally, helpful, and polite. Our self-catering apartment was also spacious, but the bathroom could do with an upgrade - chrome fittings either loose or tarnished, leaky shower-curtain facility within the bath creating a slip hazard on wet tiles. The kitchen had the bare essentials but no teapot, wine glasses, egg cups. The fridge door shelves were also missing. It did have a dish washer that looked like it had never been used. (Is a dishwasher really necessary in a holiday apartment?) Teapot, wine glasses and fridge door shelves were eventually provided on request. An iron and ironing board also had to be requested and were provided on receipt of a refundable deposit. Despite a similar request to provide a hair dryer, it never materialised. Admittedly, none of these circumstances would jeopardise the overall enjoyment of a holiday but, in a hotel that promotes itself as a 4-star venue, they should not occur. However, one circumstance that could jeopardise your enjoyment is the foul smell of drains that wafts intermittently through the outdoor pool area. To be fair, this may not be exclusively the hotel's fault as the smell persists in the wider area outside of the hotel and there is visual evidence of sewage effluent discharge into a dry riverbed nearby. Perhaps the €2/person/day tourist tax which is being levied by the Municipio de Albufeira could be used to address this. One other issue to watch out for in Albufeira generally is the state of the footpaths. They are mainly constructed of small stones arranged, mosaic style, in a sandy substrate. You have to admire the skill of the people who put them there but, over time, they have become hazardous - elevated in places by tree roots, sunken in others by vehicles parking on them, holes in others through decades of wear and tear. If you are planning on walking around the area, bring sturdy footwear!

SHOCKING do not stay at this hotel staff are so unprofessional unhelpful and rude I was made wait 7 minutes by one female receptionist and when I finally got her attention she said sorry but I was busy!! Rooms were awful for the money we paid no restaurant or bar only pool bar web page looks great reality disaster DO NOT WASTE YOUR WELL EARNED MONEY ON THIS HOTEL SHOCKING I HAVE NO WORDS TRUST ME!!

This is not a family friendly hotel . We stayed here from July 8th 2024 for 1 week . The banging on doors and screaming started every night from about 3am until around 7am. Security was non existent at night. We and friends staying on the other side of the hotel had the same experience. Staff were rude and openly having arguments with each other around the hotel . The evening bar is closed down so just the pool bar was available until 7.30pm Management was to follow up with us afterwards but surprise surprise nothing back .
